For years I have been using this app to tune my guitars, serenade women, and play for family. It seem it is not an option for free to tune anymore which I understand. This app is very informational that helps the average and advanced guitar player. But now I must leave as I don’t play that much to pay for a subscription to tune a guitar. Farewell and good luck to the company! :)

This app has very deceiving setup that tricks you into a costly subscription that renews EVERY WEEK! Sure, the app works, but so does all 250 other free tuning apps.

They now stick you with $8/week subscription. Who in their right mind would pay over $400 a year to tune a guitar? Any professional would certainly have something better than this app. They way out of it? There is the world's smallest x in the upper left corner that blends in with the background. Looks closely and you'll find it. Hit that and you can bypass the subscription page. I'll be looking elsewhere for an app that doesn't so blatantly try to rip me off (even though I know how to get around it).

The idea that a guitar tuner app should cost $400/year is ridiculous. This app is worth $5 one time, the subscription concept is pure scam.

This used to be a free app, and I used it happily—if only occasionally—for several years. Imagine my surprise when I find out I’ll need to start paying money, and there’s apparently no free mode (just a 3-day trial; no thanks). I guess nothing lasts forever. So long, Guitar Tuner. Hope you make a big pile of cash. Now where in my gig bag did I lose that tuning fork…

I’ve been using this app for years and today I got a notification that I need to update because it’s no longer compatible with my phone’s iOS. I update and reload the app and now it’s asking me to pay a subscription fee?? Moreover, it now only has the standard tunings included and I have to watch a 30 second add just to tune in Drop D??? What an absolute disappointment from a convenient app that I loved. If you really wanted money so badly, why not just sell the app for a one time $5 fee? This greedy ad and premium subscription model that’s dominating the app store is so disgusting. Deleting the app. You guys should seriously be ashamed.

This app is complicated to use and if you cancel your subscription like I did it somehow still charges you. I got this app over a year ago used it once didn’t like it unsubscribed but it is charging my card twice the amount it should have charged in the first place. Don’t waste you’re time or money on this.

I downloaded this app as it makes you think it’s free. Then I realize months later I am being charged $8 a week. No guitar tuner app is worth $8 a week. Downloader beware! My guess is that most of the good reviews are people that haven’t realized the are being charged $8 a week yet! This is a scam and they are making millions!

I wanted an app to download open and tune. There may be great bslue but the pain yo get to it us not worth it

For anyone reading this review you cannot even look at what the app has to offer because of the fact you are forced to do a 3 day free trial or just pay $8 a week and if you do this subscription you would have to pay $417 for the whole year. If your a beginner trying to learn how to tune a guitar you should youtube the basics on how to do it then find a simple guitar tuning app instead. Thank you for anyone who reads this and DON’T DOWNLOAD THIS GAME!

Have used this app to tune my kids ukele’s. Disappointed when I opened the app only to find a subscription is now needed. Bye bye app!

I just opened this app for the first time in several days to find that I have to pay to use it? I can tune in standard, which is fine, but any other tuning has to be unlocked. Super disappointed as this was my go to app :/

Great app and all of a sudden $8 a week to use. Seriously, that’s extortion. Unbelievable, eight dollars a year would be more reasonable but going from free to $8 a week? Absurd.

This app used to be free, but now I was forced to sign up for the “FREE” trial. I canceled my subscription well before the “free” first week had finished, but I was still charged $7.99. Absolute rip-off; I wish there was a way to get my money back and if I could rate 0 stars then I would.

How do I open this app without subscription?

Difficult to remove. Very intrusive re privacy. Charges without explicit ongoing permission. A time sink once installed. Stay away.

I have been using this app for years and I’ve really liked it. In fact, I just used it last week. However, I just tried to open it and could not get to the tuner without first accepting a “Free 3-day Trial” that triggers a $7.99 per week subscription charge. After reading the reviews, I discovered that you MUST accept the 3-day trial (and resulting subscription) in order to use the tuner. But, in order to avoid incurring charges, you must go into the settings and cancel the subscription. This is a sneaky business practice that borders on dishonest, essentially trying to make money on unsuspecting users who will inadvertently forget to cancel the subscription at some point. At this point I cannot recommend this app and will be deleting it from my phone.

When I downloaded this app I used it for a while and then a few weeks in it it changed where I had to pay. So this is not the app to use if you want something free. This app also takes 8 bucks a week that’s about how much a regular tuner costs so I would just buy one of those if you can’t find a free app.

Is this not free anymore? Used this for a few years on old i6. i11 has never been free. iPhone 8 off spouse still works. Loved this place and the great service. Just. Curious.

$8.... a week? If my math is correct that’s over $400 a year. Are you insane? It’s a tuner. I’m not even paying that much for all of my subscriptions to streaming media and my music lesson apps. No way! To call this a scam would be putting it kindly. There’s nothing this app could offer in terms of value that would qualify the comparable yearly cost to an affordable guitar or a well made solid body ukulele. Shame on you guys!

I hadn’t played in awhile and needed to tune up my guitar. Open the app and I get an ad that I can get rid of. I click the stupid ukulele button and it wants to charge money. I am not paying monthly for something I can do by ear or with any number of simple tuners. Then I get three spam mails from you. Bye!

8 dollars a week? That comes out to about 416$ a year. You guys are insane for even thinking about charging that. I hope you guys decide to make the app free

The app makes it impossible to use without either signing up for the free trial (in hopes you forget and they can start charging $8 A WEEK) or signing up without the free trial immediately. I understand app developers need to make money. But most tuner apps do this by locking alternate tunings, chromatic tuners, etc behind a paywall. Not the entire app. If that’s the case the app shouldn’t be ‘free’ with in app purchases because it’s literally unusable without doing the trial or paying the weekly subscription immediately. What a scam. This used to be my go to tuner app.

This used to be my favorite tuner. Easy to use and accurate. I had installed on my previous phone and it still works there but I’ve upgraded to iPhone 12 and now when installing the app it wants me to pay $8 a month to use the app. That’s horrible, considering I will probably only tune my guitar once in a blue. At this point, it makes more sense to go to the guitar store and buy me a tuner there. One time payment beats a monthly subscription lol

Are you kidding me? You want me to pay for a digital guitar tuner with a subscription? What?! Why not just charge once for the app itself and be done with it?

No permanent free function whatsoever. Just a 3 day trial with 7.99 a month fee for a darn tuner. Much better free apps available.

Been a minute since I picked up my guitar and ukulele. This was always my go-to tuner. The free version. The one you could click to avoid a trial by clicking the x in the top corner or whatever it was. Now you are forced to either use the free trial of death ($8/week after three days) or pick a new app, which I will be. If this app is making money, it is by scamming people who either do not realize there is a weekly fee, or didn’t remember to cancel their trial. No one would knowingly pay more than $400 a year on a guitar tuner app masquerading as a free service on the App Store, and Apple should honestly do the right thing and remove the service like they did other insane fee charging apps. What makes it worse, and the reason I’m bothering to write a review, is that the developer clearly either does not understand or care based on their responses to other reviews on the matter. We aren’t daft; we understand what a three day free trial means. We understand we can cancel it, but what is confusing is that you would purposefully neuter your app and then act completely ignorant as to why such an insane and immoral change as a forced premium-to-use model and sketchy free trial period/fee would upset years-long users.
